Our Team
Dr Simon Wake (Simon) graduated from the University of Queensland in
1995.
He started his veterinary career in Rockhampton as a large animal vet and
then went to the UK for eight years where he worked mainly with cats and
dogs.
He bought Anzac Avenue Veterinary Surgery from Dr Arthur Mudie in
September 2008.
His aim is to promote healthy pets by prevention of disease and education
of owners.
Following years in office administration, Kim brings with her skills to take on the role of
Practice Administrator.
Motivated simply by the "animal factor" of the industry, she easily remains focussed on effecting
the smooth running of the practice, thereby enabling the vets and nurses to get on with what they do best!

Melissa began working at Anzac Avenue Veterinary Surgery in 2010. She has been a vet nurse for five
years and gained her Certificate 4 in Vet Nursing in 2009.
She has been able to combine her love of animals
and passion for travel successfully and has enjoyed working in vet practices in remote parts of Australia.
She is now happy to call the Moreton Bay Region home and has recently purchased a home on the Redcliffe peninsula.
She lives with her fiance and 'Jack', their spoilt Kelpie.
Rachael is the newest member of our nursing team. She has recently relocated to the region after graduating
from a Bachelor of Science majoring in Zoology at the University of New England.
Rachael completed her Certificate 4 in Vet Nursing in 2004 and has worked in a mixed animal practice in rural NSW
since 2001.
Rachael has enjoyed meeting members of the community and has found everyone to friendly and welcoming. In her
spare time she enjoys spending time with her fiance and daughter and her siamese cross 'Vedder'.
Steph joined our team in October 2009 after working for a couple of years at a
veterinary specialist clinic.
Steph is working as a trainee vet nurse but is currently
studying a bachelor of applied science, majoring in veterinary technology through the
University of Queensland.
Renee joined our team in July 2010, as a trainee vet nurse and receptionist. She has a deep love for
animals and prior to working for Anzac Avenue Veterinary Surgery, spent two years volunteering at
the Peninsula Animal Aid.
In her spare time, she loves spending time with her own pets.
Renee one day hopes to be a fully qualified vet nurse and wildlife carer.
Virginia is our behaviour counsellor.
She has been with the practice for 11 years runs our obedience classes.
She specialises in behaviour modification and loves the challenge of helping
owners with 'problem' dogs.
Her obedience classes strive to produce well adjusted, sociable and good
mannered dogs in a friendly environment.
